Levels at GMI are divided into four distinctive categories.

B I A YP

Each level represents a current position of the enrolled students, and the purpose of designing these segments in detail was to offer more customized classes for the students. The level is determined via LTRP (Level Test Result Program) invented at GMI.

Beginners

Beginners
This level is for the first timers or students who had taken lessons a long time ago. The purpose of this level is to teach step by step from the very basics.

Lesson Points
Students in this level lacks basic knowledge in music. Therefore we provide musical ideas by making the students listen to various sounds and music.

Image training helps students to link an abstract feeling of music with the visible objects

Having consistent conversation with students to stimulate creativity and increase the level of expressions

Providing integrated music education which includes listening skills, dictation, and music theory

Using original teaching method with sense of touch & sight helps to learn in a new way

Helping students think for themselves through constant questions

Providing wide range of musical knowledge by introducing the students to various sounds and music

Intermediates

Intermediates
This level is for students who have basic knowledge in music and who have been taking lessons continuously (normally, students lose interest at this stage). Therefore, in order to keep up their motivation, we have included composition class in this level to help them to refine their own musical ideas and preferences.

We try to get out of the old “cramming method of teaching” with Wiel, Czerny and Hanon. Instead, we provide various practice methods for students to practice on their own and at the same time, expand their musical knowledge by learning music theory, music history, and composition.

Beginning to make students analyze & link their personal experiences with music

Inducing students by reflecting their personal preferences when selecting music

Expanding the student’s area of interest (History, art history, other instruments)

Providing practice method in accordance with the student’s personal experience & preference

Starting to teach an intensive technique exercises

Wrapping up the basic course materials and improving the quality of performance

Advanced

Advanced
This level is for students who are thinking of majoring in music, and are expanding their career with competitions and performances. At GMI, we guide students to prepare for admission to colleges, and provide them the useful information on studying abroad, master classes overseas, and summer music festival.

We prepare for competition, entrance audition, ABRSM, and certificates regarding performances. We have counselling session for students who aim for studying abroad.

Young Prodessionals

Young Professionals
This level is for students who are attending art middle or high schools, who are applying colleges for music degrees,Students who have chosen musical training as a lifelong career: preparing study-abroad program, placement exams and college-level music theory studies. (U.S, U.K, Germany etc.). We also help students to prepare professional recording sessions and recitals. For this segment, Personal Consulting Session is highly recommended for shaping the outline of their career paths.
